1640 miles later.... day 1 at Mesa Verde

On Saturday we made our way to Mesa Verde.  On our way out we swung by the Monticello Temple.  I thought that Monticello was a lot bigger then it was especially because there is a temple there.  It is such a cute little thing!!

We got to Mesa Verde and set up camp all before noon.  Then we headed out to the visitor center to see what to do.  There was quite a line to get tickets for tours of the ruins.   The first tour we did was a self guided tour through the Step House.

Here is the Step House as we approached it.

The next tour we did was of the Long House.  We were lucky to get to do this one.  They usually close this tour after Labor Day they also have it closed on Sundays.  We did miss out on a couple other little hikes because they were closed.  We will get them next time!  The Long House is the second largest cliff dwelling at Mesa Verde.

We got to hike all around in this house.  We climbed a couple of ladders, that you can see in the picture, and went up behind some of the rooms.

Can't forget to add  a picture of us at Long House!

What a fun trip! It reminds me of when Jared and I hiked the Narrows, such a long hike but what a reward to see all that beautiful scenery!! One day we should all do that hike together:)
